What Is Endangered Dance Co.?

Endangered is a performance group which specializes in sexy street jazz and girly hip hop. Established in 2010 at Harbour Dance Centre, it is under the direction of Jenny Duffy (Artistic Director) and Pamela Rosa (Principal/Owner). The group performs at a number of charity events, industrials, parties and shows throughout the Lower Mainland of British Columbia, Canada.

Divisions

There are two divisions of Endangered: The Generals and Onyx

The Generals

This division rehearses one a week on Fridays from 7:45pm to 9:45pm. They learn repertoire choreography from members of Harbour Dance Centre’s world class faculty, and also attend four additional training classes per month. This division performs at a variety of shows around Vancouver throughout the year, and is the perfect choice for dancers wanting to learn in a group setting and obtain performance experience.

Dancers will also receive master classes from industry professionals on topics such as: makeup for stage, audition technique, how to get a talent agent etc.

There is also an annual group photo shoot, where dancers have the opportunity to have professional headshots taken.

There is a monthly fee, which covers monthly rehearsals plus four 1 hour classes per month. Endangered dancers also receive a special rate on additional dance classes.

Onyx

Onyx is a pre-professional dance company specializing in sexy street jazz and girly hip hop. They learn from Harbour Dance Centre’s world-class faculty, learning a variety of top notch dance routines. They also attend monthly training classes to improve and maintain their technique. The dancers perform throughout the lower mainland at corporate events, festivals, dance congresses, charity events and more.

This division rehearses once a week on Wednesdays from 7pm to 9pm. They learn more challenging choreography from Harbour Dance Centre’s faculty, and also attend four additional dance classes per month. They perform at many of the same shows as The Generals, but also perform at additional shows under the Harbour Dance Centre umbrella.

Onyx members also have the opportunity to participate in a Mentorship Intensive, where they job shadow and learn from established professional artists. This provides developing artists with the opportunity to learn from an industry professional.

Dancers will also receive master classes from industry professionals on topics such as: makeup for stage, audition technique, how to get a talent agent etc.

There is also an annual group photo shoot, where dancers have the opportunity to have professional headshots taken.

Onyx  dancers must have a minimum of two year’s training in the Endangered Dance Co. program to be accepted into the Division (or the approval of the Directors). They must also have a clean record of conduct and their account at Harbour Dance Centre must be in good standing.

There is a monthly fee, which covers monthly rehearsals plus four 1 hour classes per month. Endangered dancers also receive a special rate on additional dance classes.
